The People Behind Low Bar

Richard Barlow - Founder|Producer

Richard Barlow is a multi passionate film maker from Northern Ontario. His love for all things film and television have led him to roles in all aspects of the process including acting, producing, directing, writing, and hosting. As a creator, he thrives on character driven stories that entertain audiences all while inciting reflection and opportunity for discussion. Richard has had the opportunity to learn from filmmaker teams in the North including the production teams behind Letterkenny, Shoresy, and The Lake. Recently, he flexed his acting skills when he took on the lead role in a feature film produced in Sault Ste Marie, ON.

It can be hard to get noticed without a proper demo reel, but it can be hard to create a demo reel before getting noticed. We’re here to help.


Each demo reel package comes with a one hour session per scene, along with coaching and editing of the scene. you are delivered a fully produced scene to add to your reel.


Once you have booked a time slot, you will be contacted about scene selection.

Starting production on a shoot film or video project and need a hand on where to start? This one hour consultation session includes a sit down meeting with Richard Barlow to discuss your script, budget, and any production details to consider before getting started.

What We've Done

Last First Kiss

Last First Kiss may have been made before Low Bar had a name, but it's the directorial debut of Richard Barlow.

Written, directed and produced by Barlow and starring Low Bar's own Marquise Amyotte.

This short film tells the story of a woman stuck reliving the moment of her first kiss. It doesn't take long before she tires of this magical time and seeks to end it.

Last First Kiss was a close runner up for Audience Choice at the 2022 STUFF Film Festival

Liv & Adam

There is no correlation between love and rightness-love is much more complicated than that. For Liv and Adam, just because their relationship didn't work out, it doesn't mean it didn't matter.

Liv & Adam is written and directed by Emma L.R. Hogg and stars Alexa Rose Vitale and Mitchell Anthony. It was nominated for best Drama Short at the ALT Film Festival and received an award of distinction from the Canada Shorts Film Festival.

Glimpses of the grim

Seeking her parents’ acceptance to also love and be loved by someone other than the two of them, an independent young woman’s two worlds collide when she brings her boyfriend home for dinner.


Numbers Men is a story about love (familial and romantic), the drive to protect it, the risk of losing it, and the acceptance that the two types of love can co-exist—not in competition, but in harmony—at the Clayton family dinner table.
